I own this book along with Scanlan’s “Web Traffic Magnet,” and I am extremely pleased with the knowledge on search engine optimization (SEO) that they provide. They take the mystery out of SEO and explain best-practice activities for achieving top search engine rankings.
“Web Traffic Magnet” is more technical than “12 Habits,” which Scanlan has intended for non-technical executives. As an SEO practitioner, however, I found value in reading both books. They compliment each other very well. And because they are both written with brevity and tight focus, they don’t overwhelm with superfluous or excessive information. They get down to the nitty gritty of SEO, which other busy people should greatly appreciate.

Anyone can create a website, but without driving traffic to it, you may as well not have one. This book certainly puts you in a strong and stronger position to be able to do so. Cramming so much information into a short book like this, with easy to read diagrams and tips, it is a super investment for any business!!! I have read the book that compliments this also called ‘Web Traffic Magnet’. This book is straight to the point and tells you what you need to know!! Great Stuff!!!

After hearing about SEO for the past year this book was the first “successful” introduction to SEO that I found out there. The topic seemed very nebulous, and I wasn’t a believer until I read Scanlan’s book. What I mean by this is that all of my experiences with different SEO companies and salespeople left me unsure of what their services actually entailed and how I could monetarily gauge their success. I found the book so easy to understand (and you must know that I’m not a very tech/computer saavy kind of gal!). After reading “The 12 Habits of Highly Effective Websites” I picked up another of his books [ASIN:1438263074 Web Traffic Magnet: 55 free things you can do to drive traffic to your website]. I highly recommend them both!

This book puts more information in one page than a lot of books do in a chapter.
If you only buy a few SEO books, I would buy the ones written by Liam Scanlan.
I think a lot of info in his books is not readily available in other SEO books. It has lots of expert secrets.
I wish this guy would write about 10 more books.

As someone who has heard the oft-used buzzwords “SEO”, “search engine optimization”, and so on, this book was refreshingly easy to read and conveyed a great deal of information on the subject. It could have used more diagrams (I’m a visual person), but that aside, it was well-written and covered a lot of ground. I plan to start building websites myself, so Mr. Scanlan’s book certainly arrived at an opportune time for me. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of SEO – but next time, Mr. Scanlan, more pictures please?
